In the shade of impulsive development

Sorry, I haven’t managed to write the third part of my “Every developers dream” series, because as it is with everything in my life, there comes time when you just do not have enough batteries left to do something. And that is what I’d like to discuss now.

I, and I don’t think I’m the only one in the world, can not code 5 days a week, 8 hours a day straight from 9am till 5pm. Sometimes I just love to do that till dusk and way beyond, and then sometimes I can’t get hold of my self to do anything for a whole day. This is what I call impulsive development, because I burn my batteries out fast and then I have to recharge them. It also means that I hate rhythm or routine of life. I just can’t deal with it, probably that’s why I like to listen to drum’n’bass music, because the rhythm is broken and not straight.

If we look into the larger picture DnB is straight as every bar starts with a kick, but in the middle there is this broken groove. The same goes for my ability to work, only the bar starts once in a month – I work from 9am till 11pm, and even on Sundays, and then comes the blackout and I can’t get my self together to work on Wednesdays or Thursdays. And in the same way this also applies to almost everything I do – music production, coding, partying, blog writing. And you know the formula for the last one – if you want people to come and check your blog occasionally, you have to post entries in rhythm, like once a week, once a month, etc.

I think some of you will get similar picture in your life. I do not know a lot of people who love to let their brains in never-ending routine, and become as one with matrix 🙂

So the dark side on this all is, that people get angry at you on the empty days, as you can’t get them what you need, and then suddenly they get excited when you deliver them more than they asked. But as it always has to be – people only remember the bad things first, and they talk around only about the bad things, rarely mentioning the good side of you. I ain’t bitching about life and other people, I just want to let them know that I’m impulsive, I charge my condenser and then it discharges fast, and afterwards you have to wait for it to recharge.
